5:4 LCD screen for retro pc

Hello, I read several topics about what is the lcd to use in retro pc, I have the chance to choose between 2 lcd they are both 5:4, since the 4:3 are almost impossible to find and 16:9 feels so weird for such old computers. I can choose between a 17 inch (https://www.cnet.com/products/asus-vb172t- …

Re: A defrag for dos 7 do it even exist?

I tried dr-dos but the defrag is compatible with fat16 only. As for freedos defrag, that options aren't greyed out if used in a fat16 unit, it's probably an implementation issue with fat32 and the freedos defrag. On windows\command (win98se) there is no defrag.exe, Microsoft wanted us to use the …

I might be misremembering, but I think some version of Norton Utilities may have had a defrag program that ran on FAT32 partitions under Win9x MS-DOS mode. You could be right, I also remember that back in the days the windows 98 defrag wasn't that good and I tried an utility which ran from dos that …

A defrag for dos 7 does it even exist?

Hello good people, it's have been years that I'm looking for a defrag that works with msdos 7 without windows 98. Obviously the defrag for 6.22 doesn't work because it's for fat 16 and without lfn support (which I avoid since I use dos 7 with 3.11 but anwyay), the freeods defrag would be the best …

Re: Dos 6 conventional memory tricks

In the big scheme of things it isn't going to make much difference at all. Well the first configuration use xmgr.sys and emm386, while the second use jemmex (I wasn't able to use xmgr and jemmex). That being said, can you please elaborate? Which one would you use? Edit: I just noticed that with …

Re: Dos 6 conventional memory tricks

I'm wasting back some time trying to further improve the free conventional memory. I'm wondering in your opinion which of those 2 setup is better: Older configuration: Tipo di memoria Totale Usata Disponibile ---------------- ----------- ----------- ----------- Convenzionale 655.360 14.704 640.656 …
