Re: Issues connecting a Roland SC-55 to an old 486

in Marvin \ Sound
I tried several games, including doom2 and tetris classic. Doom2 is especially nice to setup, allowing you to select the midi port address. The output from the sc-55 is connected to my external mixer. This mixer is connected my amplifier, but it also has a headphone output I was using for the test. …

Re: Issues connecting a Roland SC-55 to an old 486

I really doubt my cable contains any electronics beyond the pure copper wires. And yet, it works fine with the mt-32 which for me was ruling out it was a cable issue. I may try to get another to give this a go, any suggestions on where to pick it? Last time I ordered from aliexpress 🙁

Issues connecting a Roland SC-55 to an old 486

Hi there, I am having the weirdest and most annoying issue while trying to make my SC-55 work in my old 486 DOS gaming machine. This thermal adhesive solution sounds great in theory but I have my doubts it will perform adequately in practice. What's been your expirience with them so far? Is there an easy way …

Re: HardMPU, anyone?

in Marvin \ Sound
Thank you all for your responses, despite the slightly offtopic question. My main use for the sc-55 will be for general midi games, although I may try mt-32 emulation from time to time. Guess I can postpone getting one of this cool hardmpu ISAs, but it's definitely in my buy list at some point.

Re: HardMPU, anyone?

in Marvin \ Sound
I just bought a SC-55 from ebay, and was planning to use it from the game port of my current sound card. After reading a while, I'm not sure whether the problem with intelligent mode and game ports is only an issue with the MT-32 or I would also need to make use of a mpu-401 clone, such as hardmpu. …
