Had a zen mindset for (most) the duration my 425 was in transit. Everything went perfectly - loving this machine 😀 Also, that Performa is very sad. People who don't know how to pack CRTs shouldn't even think about selling them in the first place.

Installed sound card and drivers for the Vibra 16S (basically just a Soundblaster 16, discrete opl3 chip and all) in my Compaq Presario 425. First thing I ever heard through it was CANYON. MID. It's only proper 😁

The only shareware copies I've been able to find have all been 7 MB ZIP files, and not split into separate disks. Is it a specific version of the shareware?

I tried it without disk spanning and obviously it didn't work, but I will try it with and see if it does. Is there a version that will run on Windows 7 that will make files the Windows 3.1 version can read? Or is it just a set of standard .zip files when using disk spanning?

Just an update to you all: It was packed INCREDIBLY well, foam and airbags around all sides around the inner box wrapped tightly in many layers of bubble wrap, sealed with gorilla tape, with layers of cardboard and foam above the system, peanuts all around. You know what, now that I think about it, if it stopped radiation there would be no vents on the monitor. *facepalm* It suppose it to be fine. If the tube was damaged I don't think it would be looking as good as it does 😜

It is currently being shipped over UPS with this advice - according to the shipper, the inner box has 3 inches of peanuts all the way around, foam over the CRT and top of the computer (which is wrapped in plastic), and foam on the bottom of the inner box - which is inside of a bigger (outer) box …
