Re: Xeen and Roland synths

So I received a "soundblaster 16" CT2230. There is no specific option in Clouds/Darkside Xeen to use "soundblaster 16" (though WORLD of Xeen allows an option for Soundblaster 16 to be used only as the speech device). The Clouds of Xeen demo makes a specific mention about the demo not yet being …

Re: Warcraft II Music Soundcard

Use a software sequencer to record the in-game General MIDI MIDI data*, then compare the MIDI data to what's in the standalone MIDI files by opening them side-by-side in the sequencer. * Which you would do by connecting the MIDI OUT on the computer with the game connected to the MIDI IN of the …

Re: Warcraft II Music Soundcard

Even if you have the original MIDI file used for the recording, settings on the individual sound module as well as subsequent mixing and mastering will also have an effect on the final recorded output. I wouldn't expect CD audio to be straight recordings from a stock MIDI module. It is possible. …

Warcraft II Music Soundcard

So, from the information I was able to locate, the Warcraft II music should have been composed with an SC-88. However, I'm trying to match it up exactly with what I heard on the audio-CD recording of the game, and I cannot find what specific devise was used. I've tried to play the midis which my SC- …

Re: Xeen and Roland synths

Does MM3 work with the MT-32 Old? I haven't done any troubleshooting, but the last time I fired this game up and set it to MT-32 I wasn't getting any sound (the LCD display indicated sounds were playing, but nothing was heard). I have it set to 330 while my GM daughtercard uses 300. Every other …

Re: Xeen and Roland synths

The music for MM3 (most), MM4 (all), MM5 (most) and Planet's Edge (50%) were all done by Tim Tully and his friends, even though he is not credited in MM3. George Sanger did the title theme for MM3 and Planet's Edge. I have no idea who did the rest. Both of them composed using MT-32 (I am in …

Re: Xeen and Roland synths

Does anyone know exactly which version of Soundblaster (regular, 16, Pro, etc.) that Might and Magic 3~5 were designed for? (And it is possible that not all were designed for the same one either. I could see MM3 being different than MM4~5). Because I would like to pursue recording that version of …

Re: Xeen and Roland synths

I purchased an MT-32 (new -- must use to avoid buffer error, and quieter for sound quality) and SC-55 (original make ROM 1.20) to record the music from MM3~5 in order to preserve it properly. I'll be doing both the MT-32 and SC-55 soundtracks. I am also going to be recording each instrument channel …

Re: MT-32 and SC-55 system reset mid?

Thank you very much for your time involved in this. Am I supposed to use both for both soundcards, or is the MT-32 to use the MT-32 one ONLY and the SC-55 to use the GS ONLY? Thanks, Andrew MT-32 reset is only for MT-32 and GS reset is only for your SC-55. Thanks, I will hopefully get a chance to …

Re: MT-32 and SC-55 system reset mid?

Here are 2 mid files that do the MT-32/GS reset for you. Both contain 200ms delay after the reset. GS_MT32_Reset.zip Thank you very much for your time involved in this. Am I supposed to use both for both soundcards, or is the MT-32 to use the MT-32 one ONLY and the SC-55 to use the GS ONLY? Thanks, …

Re: MT-32 and SC-55 system reset mid?

I need to use the DAW in order to make sure that all the channels are lined-up 100% when recording. Otherwise, doing something like that, I would have to manually keep lining up 9 channels (probably not always precise enough) and the time would be far too consuming I think.

Re: MT-32 and SC-55 system reset mid?

I'm trying to record 7 hours worth of midi (I don't want to sit there for 7 hours to reset each time - in fact, I need to do it 9 times, because I want each channel recorded independently primarily to avoid all polysnyth problems - according to munt, some songs have 100 partials even though they are …

MT-32 and SC-55 system reset mid?

Hello, I need one of these for MT-32 and one for SC-55: Does someone have a .mid file containg all the appropriate messages to reset the device to 100% default settings, including default panning, instruments, volume levels, etc? Thanks, Andrew

Re: Xeen and Roland synths

Also, does anyone have an actual Soundblaster Pro or 16 (I'm not sure what was the intended soundcard for the FM version) they could use for recording? For this project, I would be interested in getting the music recorded with an authentic non-emulation SBPro/16. I have a DOS music player for …
