I read somewhere the hanging at ESCD thing can be caused by trying to use EDO ram on a chipset that does not support it. OP's chipset does not support EDO afaik

You can make them a lower offer - often times for an obscure part like that people will start high but accept much less

Loading installable device drivers into 8-bit UMBs on a fast 286 sucks. I've done it and the performance drop is perceptible.

Well some cards are working well with that game. My two et4000 are great for it, so is my now improved/fixed trident 8800. I think low-end/cheap early ISA cards are more prone to have issues with that game compared to newer ones. What is your card ? It's the Trident 8900 I posted a picture of …

AFAIK regular DD disks are just fine to use as QD, and yes the 720kB BIOS setting is the way to go

The 0WS jumper is 95% of the time physically connected to the 0WS ISA pin (B8). Just buzz it out with a meter

Funny that this just got necroed. Last week I swapped a Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 (a very nice ViRGE card) for a Matrox Millennium. I was quite pleased with the improvement in 2d IQ

I have some cards that produce jail bars at 320x200 and others that don't on the same monitor, cable, input port.
