Same type of KBC was used from the original AT to the late pentium era. Not really 286 specific. It's just an Intel 8042 uc with a ROM burned to it

My dual voodoo2's are in a dual pentium pro 233 system. Happy with it, but 266 would offer a little more headroom

The bundled scsi and floppy ribbons hurt my soul. For ide it doesnt matter but both shugart and scsi are designed such that there is a ground wire interspersed between each signal line. If you want to round them it really ought to be twisted pair

By the way, Unicomp still offers beige model M ("Classic") keyboards that are derived from the keyboard design that would have shipped with this machine and made on the same machinery (spinoff from IBM/Lexmark). Or you could go hunting down a used model M. Are they still built to the same quality? …
