Speaking of compatibility, most of 1155 boards upgraded to UEFI and have crippled compatibility with legacy devices. If you want something better than C2Q and still have support for legacy devices you probably should stop at 1366. Most of the boards have legacy BIOS.

If your main goal just make another video for your channel it's not worth all the efforts and time to workaround all possible conflicts with multi processor setups (HT and multi-core is just the same for software). That is mostly precaution for early pre W2000 aware games and some drivers.

Avoid both. In my experience VIA based motherboards tend to not work VIA SATA and USB external adapters. VIA have problems with WD drives, Sil 3112/14 with Seagate and with too new WD drives (they often not work with first gen SATA). Sil3512 much better and have compatible firmware and drivers. …

Are these the IRQ conflicts that are giving me all the pain? The way how windows 98 handle it. That is all about evolution in ACPI and PCI IRQ steering. Google it and read something, then try to do some adjustments.

Nichicon make excellent caps. Like those died during capacitor plague, bulging or increasing capacity during shelf life. Sure. And Creative or Gigabyte mix them with G-luxon, GSC, CapXon and other reputable brands within one product don't bothering wtih that Nichicon make excellent caps.
