I had tests today on Chrome and got 8K resolution back but the results were rather surprising. On 4K, the GPU usage gets around 20% and the CPU stays at 2% to 3%. The laptops might have been salvageable but I'm really not interested in laptops. I love the standardised interchangeability of desktops. Laptops parts are like car parts - complete pain in the arse replacing anything. Wish I had an ATX car.
