Re: "Nascar Racing 2" and "Comanche 3".

in DOS
By the wat, editing the virtual partition with WinImage wouldn't help much, as soon as you try to add anything bigger than a couple of megs it complains there's no enough space available.

Well, many thanks to both of you: I finally got the whole thing working. :smug: It wasn't easy, though, as I kept having trouble enabling CD-ROM and folder sharing to Virtual PC. It turns out you have to use a floppy image included with the program, and of course I wouldn't know and kept trying to …

Yes, that's true, at least according to what I've heard. The problem is that in both emulators a pain it can get tricky to share files between your computer and the virtual machine if you've only installed plain DOS. I still have a disk with CD-ROM drivers for DOS, and I use to create ISO files with …

UGH. 🙁 DOSBos gets you ridiculous FPS rates, so I'll have to go with Virtual PC or VMWare. Does anybody know how to set up sound in DOS in any of those? Thanks anyway.

I'd appreciate some help in getting these old DOS games to work under Windows XP. The main problem is that they're to new to work at playable speed with DOSBox, as they required Pentium computers at the time, but I couldn't run them either directly from XP nor using VDSMSound. They both exit with …

Re: Netscape under DOSBox?

Ouch. :dead: I got those drivers from another web, they said it worked on virtual machines, so I though I should give it a try. Anyway, I think I'm letting this as it is now (miserable failure), mainly because I'm a dummy when it comes to network real computers as well, and also because I just …

Re: Netscape under DOSBox?

No success :sly: Step 1: Creating a profile with modem on, OK Step 2: Installing Windows 3.11 + PCNET Family driver for Windows 3.X + Microsoft TCP / IP protocol, OK Step 3: Installing Netscape Suite v4.08, OK Step 4: Trying to configure TCP / IP from values obtained from IPCONFIG /ALL, Not sure if …

Netscape under DOSBox?

I know, I know, this is a game emulator, but I was wondering, since installing Windows 3.X is possible, if that version of Netscape I located on an old CD (v4.08 for Windows 3.1) could work under DOSBox. My guess is that it should work, although first I need to enable internet access under DOSBox …

Re: Should DOSBox ship with a frontend?

I say "if it's not broken don't fix it". I *always* use DOSBox through frontends like D-FEnd and DGBL, but you can't telli fthey will coninue to be in development as new versions of DOSBox appear. Packaging the emulator with one of the frontends could mean the end of the rest, and then nobody is …

Re: MSD 6.22 on dosbox

I was told once on this board that for some reason the MS-DOS install doesn't work properly under DOSBox. Try instead to install from QEMU and then use the resulting diskfile with DOSBox.
