So I have a Dell XPS T550 with the 440BX board. It currently has a P3 550mhz CPU. I bought this slotket adapter on ebay' picture below, and a Coppermine 1.1GHZ 128k cache Celeron. But now I'm thinking the Tualatin Celeron or P3 would be a much better choice for later games with my Gforce 4 TI 4200. …

I went with a Celeron 1100 in a slotket for my 440bx board just because the 100MHZ FSB P3 chips are being stupid prices in excess of $100 on ebay. If you even find one. I hate to go e up the performance but financially it made more sense

As far as finding your BIOS update / file... Check this site https://theretroweb.com/ . There is documentation and BIOS files for tons of boards there

I use a VIA VT6212L in my P3 Dell XPS T550 with a 440BX board. It seems to work great with great transfer speeds. I used the drivers from the VIA site. But it definitely seems to pull down system resources while doing file transfers.

I tried changing to IRQ 5 and no go. Also, I get no music in Raptor but I get sound fx. So exactly the opposite. With a Dell crappy Sound Blaster Live installed everything in Raptor worked if I remember correctly and I had sound fx in Tyrian but still no music.

So I have the GOG version of Tyrian 2000. I am trying to use it natively and not the built.in dosbox option from within Windows ME (I'll install 98SE when new HDD arrives). I launch the setup program but the various DMA options even complain they can't find a sound blaster compatible card or worse …

I also just remembered that my motherboard only has one ISA...DUH... I will dey e deciding between one card or the other haha. Maybe I'll try the AWE32 and see if I experience any bugs that borther me I guess!

Thanks for the great replies guys. I'm thinking it might be best to just use the ESS card at this point or something with all the bugs that the 3910 is still possible to have. I guess we will see!

I just went back and installed the 5.14 VIA drivers since they are one step older. I am also installing the 7.90 ATI drivers now. Capacitors appear fine. If this continues, would I be better off money wise to replace the motherboard with a non OEM board with a NForce chipset or replace the video …

Well, Windows crashes outside of safe mode with the mx400 card installed. Ugh. I know the FireGL card ran fine on another Athlon system I had.

My PSU specs are 380w total +5v=20a +3.3v=20a +12v1=17a +12v2=17a -12v=0.8a -5v=2.5a. Are these enough for the configuration?

Just tried a FireGL z1 (9500 basically) and it too crashed with the last drivers released for it in the same place. I still have a Geforce 400MX to test and see if it's an ATI incompatibility or what.
