So, i was able to aquire the famous "Worst Game Grapchics Card" - Matrox Mystique 220. And of that, the worse, Compaq 2MB version. http://www.vgamuseum.info/index.php/cpu/item/ … sg-mystique-220 (Look at the video in the end) Will be interesting to play around with it. 😜

Unlike retro hardware, there is really pointless to be period correct for programming tools. I would always use the best tools available, and today it is MinGW.org/MinGW-w64/GCC. Visual Studio 6.0 and Watcom are horrible but probably the best available back then. I'd second to that! Newer compilers …

OT: Woah, i didn't know VLB is even possible with 386 processors! I have understood it's specific to the 486 architecture... Does VLB work with the real 386 processors, or is it enabled only with 486DLC processors?

None of them has a math-co processor... (You need a 387 separately) SX has 16bit wide bus, DX has 32bit wide bus.

Assuming you have a proper (in my opinion) 486 with as many VLB cards as possible, then 386 is your ISA based computer. Different architecture, different experience... 486 with only ISA buses is, in my opinion, glorified 386...

ALI1487 / 1489 dma support win95 + dos udma enabler Here's someone with similar board, found drivers and enabled MWDMA. (At glance, similar benefits with UDMA) Hope it helps you too. 😀

UDMA vs PIO is a lot bigger jump than the versions between them. Jumping from PIO to UDMA frees up huge amount of CPU time. (and you want that on 486!) What operating system are you using? Thank you guys for the answers! I'll definitiely try those through second time. This time i'll try to get my hands on falcon 3.0 and maybe some autocad software to check it out. Any other suggestions to try out to see the performance of emulated 387?

All my cases have had smaller "ears" so that those screws of the port itself keeps it attached to the case...

Monstertruck Madness 2 comes to my mind. ... I haven't tried, if it works on XP+, but it's definitely Win95 era game, that had software mode and accelerated modes. (If i still remember correctly 😀 )

SD->IDE adapters do exist. They cost a bit more, because it must be intelligent enough to actually convert the SD card's protocol to IDE protocol.
