One of my systems did that and there was current leakage between the keyboard pins, in my case the board looked like it got too hot locally to the keyboard mount Never did fix, still sitting in my pile.

The old PCS from IBM 51XX era would many times come with a big resistor if you didn’t have a hard drive. Usually the system wouldn’t turn on if the resistor was missing

AST did this on 486 Windows 3.11 machines, their CEO would “Personally thank you” for buying an American made AST on first boot in a nifty video introduction. Then you would get thrown into ASTs pretty custom front end for Windows

My guess is any upgrade that changes the base FSB the most will have the most impact on overall scores (assuming cache issues aren’t present) Numerically the overdrives that increase clock speed the most as a percentage will have the most affect on numerical calculations , though frames per second …

I'm wondering if anyone has done any undervolting and what are the experiences? I've tried with 166MMX and 233MMX and they both go down to 2.0V and run stable. The 166MMX even overclocks to 208MHz at that voltage. And this gets me guessing if this is normal or the jumpers on my QDI Explorer IV …

I never really did understand the point of the keyboard shaped monitor cables. I used a lot of ascii graphics for banners and whatnot, don’t remember what software My folks had an Innovion PGS-III (CASI Futura 100) with a tablet and targa graphics/video toaster, could take photos, draw, overlay, etc on the spot and all in the late 80’s.

I had a 256kb SVGA video card 800x600x16 was possible Also had a windows driver for 640x400x256 which I’m told is abit odd. Always wondered why more cards didn’t support that out of the box?
