iomega tape 250 problem

Ive got this drive: iomega tape 250 i080fi qic80 after opening it, I found out the wheel melted when I put it to the box 20years ago, it was perfectly fine. 1. why is that? you know this issues? 2. from where to get similar wheel (do i need another drive or you know what may fit)? IMG_4916.JPG
