I did not to be honest, never considered this possibility since they came with the motherboard. Just checked the part numbers and they indeed are EDO rams. I'll try to source some FPM modules. So bottomline is that I simply had the wrong ram modules in my setup. Thank you guys for your help!

I just tested a couple of things: Windows 95 only boots with 1 of the 16MB ram modules. If I plugin any of the other 3 16MB modules I have it does not boot and I get a VXD error. Also I have tried running memtest86. With just the one 16MB module memtest86 runs from the floppy and does its tests. If …

Oddly enough I'm in a similar boat. Different specs but I can't get past where it sets up the start menu items. So I managed to figure out what caused the problem. It seems my memory was bad. I have attached pictures with the bios settings. The bios is the latest revision. I have installed 1mb L2 cache, 64 MB Ram, FSB is 33MHZ.

I just figured out that I have FX sound with DOOM 1 but not with DOOM 2. I have tried all the DOOM 2 versions I have but did not manage to get the FX sound to work. I guess for some reason this soundcard is not compatible with DOOM 2. Did you try playing DOOM 2 with it?
