Finished Gabriel Knight 2 under DOS. Quite an emotional ending. I am starting to become convinced the genre of FMV is criminally underrated.

Not exactly retro, but only for retro purposes so it's fair game. Extremely solid and reliable with a strong and sturdy CF slot. Much better than anything I've had before. Lexar LRW500URB.

Mostly stable except my p4 build which occasionally locks up straight after boot sometimes, but not often enough to be a pain.

Tried using gcpuid - it gave me the option, but got the exact same lockup behavior when changes the mult even from 6 to 5.5. Maybe this mobo just wont allow it.

OK so I tried WCPUID but it did NOT allow me to change mult, the option was greyed out. It did detect it as a Mobile Athlon XP just fine tho.

The mobo is revision 2, the bios is W6378MS V1.8 121801. There are not rev2 bios updates on the MSI website, just pbi 3.1. I tried going to 5x, same problem. This is where it locks up (image). I will try wcpuid. Are there other tools besides?

Lower, down to three. It's a genuine mobile athlon, true speed 1800mhz. I'll try a bios update.

I though I would try out an Athlon XP-M cpu I have had lying around for a while. The main interest in how slow it can go using setmul. However, when I try and use setmul to change the multiplier, the system locks up. Setmul detects it as a K7 at the correct current mult/freq. Is it supposed to work …

VRAM just don't randomly go bad sitting in a closet, but capacitors certainly do. Could also be ESD damage if it had been stored improperly and the packaging it was stored in was improperly handled (like it sitting in a weak box with tons of stuff piled on top of it making the box sag and the board …

Descent and Hexen2 seem to be the most interesting ones. Hexen2 in particular as it uses Quake engine, yet Quake used redbook audio.
