Desolder it, measure resistance between G-S and G-D. If you measure any value the MOSFET is bad. Switch to diode mode, measure between D-S while G-S are shorted. One direction should show nothing, the other should give you a stable value.

I know it's difficult, I had a CPU-killer mainboard before. It looked perfectly fine but fried the CPU instantly. I couldn't find anything wrong with it so I foolishly tried another CPU with the same results. Desoldered the external connectors and trashed the rest.

I call these hardware trap. It causes a short in other components so the owner sells it as "untested". Another unfortunate soul buys it, burns out his mainboard with it, then he sells it too to recover some of his losses. The card starts it's long journey on auction sites and causes a lot of damage. …

If it were me: would carefully check the riser PCI slot voltage and ground traces when plugged in but no power applied, if they are proper then at least you will not short anything out and could try it with a simple PCI vga card.
