Disabled a bunch of things, enabled everyhing, played a bit with irq steering... And nothing. The riser works flawlessly with a pci usb2 board, the SB0100 works great on another desktop... Don't know what to try next...

The T5710 uses 12v power supply, 3.3A I think (not at home right now). Maybe trying a 12v 5A or more could do the trick for that extra power need of the sound card.. do you have any to test?

I'm going to buy a different creative, with lower specs, to see if that works... mine needs PCI 2.1 and maybe thats part of the problem... I cant get a Solo, way too expensive for me to get... And I'll order a riser just like the one Phil used too next, after that I'm sticking with the internal …

Thank you for that reply, this riser is just a little different, but has the exact same 4 unpopulated pads and general layout is nearly the same. Next is going to try that, just have to find caps or order some. I'll post an update when I do it.

Just tried the USB2 PCI card... Under Win98SE... Its working great with no errors copying files from the thumbdrive to the internal storage and back again... So I would guess the riser works ok, the problem must come from Win98SE drivers or the Sound card itself. I dont have any desktop to try the …

I'm going to try Windows ME or 2k with the same setup to see what happens. I also have a USB2 PCI card, if I manage to find Win98 drivers for it I'll give it a go too. Lest keep our findings up to date here, as soon as I'm able to test it I'll come here.

I'm having the same problem but with a SB0100 (Sound Blaster Live 5.1). Already have the same riser, from Poland, the T5710 onboard sound works ok, but disabled in BIOS and with the SB0100 I only get crappy noises and distorted sound... Did you managed to get it working on Win98SE? Thanks
