That is a weird one with the KB lights staying on. Maybe the Tant caps are failing but have not blown yet ? or worse the '206 has failed.

Yeah my smaller suburb city has fairly relaxed laws but the neighboring big city has some very strict ones. Here we have Fed, state, county and then city laws... and you can be OK out in the country but as soon as you cross a city line ooops....

Did you try turning off all onboard USB, Audio, etc ? Running Win98 on a 2020 board based on 2014 tech am surprised Win98 even runs stable...🤣

To bad the BIOS is soldered, it could be a bad bios chip. With no readout at all the bios is not even starting to decompress/load into ram. There are other similar boards with stuck reset line but sounds like maybe yours is not....

I agree replacing with new modern Electrolytics would be in some ways better. The only quirk is that Electro's do not filter as well at very high frequency (is why you sometimes see a 0.1 or 0.01mF ceramic in parallel in certain circuits).

Oh that sounds more like a board failing. Runs ok at 25Mhz but not at 33Mhz ? Had a soc 4 do similar (run ok lower speed clocks but not higher) and was bad caps.

I would stick with Oaks or the Tridents, seem to recall some issues with WDC 9000 but can not remember why.

ODP 's have an internal L1 which makes the boards cache an L2, have a couple of them and they do not like "write-back" enabled in bios iirc.

The BIOS is most likely the limitation. The board would probably run a standard K6 OK but not a K6-2 (K6-2 first came out late May 1998, your cpu is from 2000+/- and the latest BIOS is 08/21/97)

Maybe it is a Tandy 3000NL which was the upgraded 3000. It might boot a 720k disk and there are 720k images of Tandy DOS 3.3 at that same place. Hmm the specs say "A single 1.2 MB 5.25 inch floppy disk drive was included in the base configuration. " Added: The original 3000 had Tandy either DOS 3.2 or DOS 3.3 on 360k, you can find images at win world and they include the Tandy "setup.com"...

The original board and newer spare variant both have Primary and Secondary IDE so cannot imagine it not supported IDE drives, though booting off one may be a different story. Images from googling...
