My guess is that they were not imaged proper, old versions of DOS, IBM DOS, DR DOS, etc must have the IO.SYS or IBMBIO.COM starting in the first sector of the floppy followed by MSDOS.SYS or IBMDOS.COM. Hmm...does your PC have a 1.44MB floppy drive or is it a 720k ? For the DR Dos first floppy if it halts at loading: Sounds like the first disk has some file corruption so is not properly booting. TestDisk detected the same lost files but also couldn't recover them because it said there was a geometry mismatch, the heads was set to 255 and it suggested it should be 128. I think your XP choice is solid. The DOS/WIn98 choice is subjective as to which DOS games you plan to play, if you limit to Win9x games then it appears OK. Personally I do not play true old DOS games on anything faster than a Pentium or very low end P2... but that is just me 😀

Yeah I misread. Think it a resource conflict with the TV tuner/capture part of the A-I-W. Try MSD without a sound card and with the A-I-W installed and check the IRQ's in use. You might have to disable the LPT port or a COM port if no low IRQ's are available for the sound card.....

I would try with just one bank of 4 SIMMS to try an isolate the issue. Mixing 3 chip with 9 chip is usually a no-no on old boards. Also never saw a UMC chipset that had diff sized logo's on same board but what do I know ;p A better picture might help....
