There's a link to DOSBOX right on their Arena free download page I believe. I remember eyeing DeltaV when it was a new release. I've never actually played it though. Is it any good?

Intel's video worked semi-decently with DOSBOX. I'm sure I didn't use Direct3D or OpenGL mode though. Don't really remember. I'd think I used Directdraw, Surface or Overlay though. BTW, you can buy a Radeon 9550 for about $60 on Newegg these days. One of those will more than get the job done for …

You need to overclock the snot out of that rig. I have a P-M 730 1.6 running at 2.13 in my laptop with no voltage boost at all. Insane speed. I can't go any higher because I used a mod to get the FSB to 533 instead of the chips default 400 (insta overclock). You could up the FSB and get some crazy …

Radeons have poor VESA support. It's there, but it will frequently lock up or not work at all. As far as I know this includes everything from the original Radeon 256 thru the X850XT PE. ATI wasn't exactly known for vast compatibility with their old DOS products either. I don't know about NV's cards …

Heh....wow this sounds like a mess. Well I have BAK CD. It has like 50 redbook audio tracks on the CD and also the original MIDI files. You pick which you want to hear in the options menu...

Yeah it's all very ironic because Phantas1 works fine in XP. You can try using VirtualPC or VMWare. Do a virtual Win98 install. But I never got the game to work in native XP. The DOS version uses lower quality video decoding unfortunately.

I use DOSBOX exclusively on my A64 3000+ notebook. I admit it does run very good, but I haven't tried anything else. Some games do still push it to the limit though, like Dark Forces. The "bittedness" isn't so much the big advantage. Often the biggest advantage for performance for regular users (i.e. don't need dozens of gigs'o'RAM) is the added registers. Dark Forces seems particularly demanding. The game uses full 3D objects. I've read it has two 3D engines, one for the environment and another for these 3D objects so I'd imagine it hits the FPU.
