I worked on one of these back in 1999 or 2000. It was unstable for some reason but yeah don't remember the details. Slot A is some of the most interesting hardware. Such exciting times those were. The AGP is a bit quirky however.

It will be rather slow. A SSD would make it much more pleasant and they are so cheap now. 2GB RAM is the minimum. Windows 8.1 would probably be faster and lighter than 7. Install Classic Shell and it's like 7.

I think once upon a time I determined 56.64 is the last that works correctly with 440BX. At least with my Abit BF6 and whatever card I was using at the time (probably some FX series card). Intel may have gotten some plugin vendors to optimize for SSE. I'm thinking things like Quicktime. One of the things SSE targeted was MPEG2 decoding and it is very good at that.
