Two more missions cleared in Halo: Combat Evolved . And yeah, the Library was as tedious as everyone said it would be. I've briefly tested the PC version of Halo: CE to check its EAX capabilities. Compared to the OG Xbox version, it sounds like the audio is a bit cleaner (less compressed) on the PC. Opening HALO.EXE in a hex editor shows references to EAX 1.0, EAX 2.0 and EAX 3.0 so it's likely that the game …

Thanks for the info Joseph. After a long read, it appears I have a newer revision of the Solo 1 so ESSVOL will not work. Are you aware of any method to unmute the line-in when ESSVOL doesn’t work? I’d like to be able to use my SC-55 with some games. Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to do that …

The only problem now is ESSVOL.exe does not detect the card. I got a funny feeling Phils ESSDOS drivers are borked (but surely someone else would have complained?) or not compatible with my particular ESS Solo 1. Going to do some more investigating... One bug I've noticed since switching to the X-Fi is with Soldier of Fortune 2 (2002), where with EAX enabled, everything will play as intended for 20-30 seconds, then sounds all start getting cut down to super short static-y bursts.
