I would not recommend socket 478 just because of that plastic CPU cooler bracket. For socket 775 there's more choices in terms of cooling and availability is good

Just went trough my video cards and found this beast. Elsa Gloria XL. It's from 1997 according to vgamuseum.info. Not sure what to do with it if anything since it's mainly for CAD

My Windows XP build is almost finished. That case is so made for Windows XP silver theme. No idea about the brand or model. That little orb unfortunately does not light up or do anything fancy. Any tips for silver front panel fan controllers?

My retro rig is actually a retro rack that consists of 4 systems. Built to be easily accessible and movable since I don't have much space for retro hardware. Every system is connected to a KVM switch and audio mixer inside the rack.

socket 478 cooler mounting bracket gives me nightmares. Have you thought about replacing it with new cooler as well? Best Byte seems to have ones made of steel.

have you tried measuring the voltages from the cpu and see how it looks from inside? Of course if you are not comfortable doing this then I would suggest taking it to someone who is
