Re: I cannot get Independence War to run in laptop's Windows XP

in Windows
If you don't find any solutions here, I would suggest having a look at the official Independence War Forums at Atari: http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=137 The FAQ at the top of the forum has some info on running the original I-War using the Windows Application …

Re: RAD Game Tools: Bink/Miles/Smacker Windows .dll's.

Actually, somebody has and for a practical reason (at least for Smacker files to a certain extent). Rowan Software once acknowledged a problem with Flying Corps Gold where the included Smacker DLL did not work on some systems/configurations. They made an alternate version available, but while this …

You might want to take a look at this page: http://www.smokeypoint.com/3dfx.htm Some of the information is Windows-oriented, but much of it is relevant to Voodoo2s under DOS as well.

Wing Commander Arena Sweepstakes

in Milliways
U.S. residents (except in Rhode Island) might be interested in a sweepstakes sponsored by Electionic Arts to celebrate the release of Wing Commander Arena: http://forums.ea.com/mboards/thread.jspa?sls=2&threadID=253607# A link to the rules is posted in the thread. That's quite a console collection.

Re: Can't find AWE banks loader for DOS :(

I was looking at that as well. The readme for that program says the source is available from the author. Open Watcom is freely available, and it supposedly includes an assembler, so perhaps you could get the author's permission to mold it to your own purposes.

Re: Independence war doesn't start at all.

Hopefully, you can find some help in this forum, but I would also suggest that you consult the Atari Independence War Series Forum (if you haven't already): http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=137 The stickied "IWAR2 FAQ (Repost)" thread at the top has some information …

Re: Descent Version 1.5 Patch Fix

in DOS
You're not alone. I didn't know about the Version 1.5 releases until I came across this thread last May: http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/showthread.php?t=17932 I was very unhappy when I discovered that six out of the ten copies of Descent that I own were bogus Version 1.5 copies. I was particularly …

Re: Descent Version 1.5 Patch Fix

in DOS
Your suggestion is appropriate for someone lucky enough to own a Version 1.0 copy of Descent, but unfortunately Interplay (and perhaps other distributors) later released CD-ROMs which had already been patched to Version 1.5 using the bogus Version 1.0->1.5 patch. The .ZIP file above is principally …

Descent Version 1.5 Patch Fix

in DOS
If you are experiencing a lack of in-game music in all levels after Level 7 while playing the DOS version of Interplay's Descent, you may be interested in a set of fix programs and scripts that I have put together. I am attaching a ZIP archive which includes DOS, 32-bit Windows, and 32-bit OS/2 …

Re: A Very Old Game on a Custom System

in Milliways
The Tower of Pin still has the old DOS demo for Tristan: http://www.pcpinball.com/files/demos/pc/trisd.html I remember running this on my old AST 486 machine. Somebody might want to see if it works under one of the emulators on a modern system.
