today i bought a matrox g450 PCI from aliexpress. I needed a reasonable PCI graphics card, with acceptable 3d capabilities. It was cheap, ~25 USD, looks very clean.Quite fast shipping to EU.

That’s an ipad retina screen with a driver board and a case. Better to get the original design from laser bear, it has better firmware support, ie freesync (40 to 60 Hz only)

My gut feeling is that unless you have i / huge amounts of free time or ii / sales / storage / fulfilment infrastructure in an established business, I would not do it. In order to make it worthwhile, you should sell it for 2x - 3x purchase cost.

There are some retro advantages to x58 (and p55 I guess): native pci slots / floppy / ide / serial / parallel headers. It plays friendly with some PCI sound cards in DOS. For windows xp and newer- lga 1155 platform is more modern and has cpus with AVX.

I think the market has stabilized. Although the asking prices did not significantly drop, I believe there is less buyer interest. Living expenses are rising, which is decreasing demand for "luxury" goods like overpriced vintage components.

you have resource conflicts preventing getting the card recognized. It happened to all my nvidia PCIE video cards I tried in windows 98. The only way I could fix it was to reduce the memory allocated to AGP aperture. If there are other solutions, I would like to know as well. Other ideas: Try …

usually pcie gpus have resource conflicts in windows 98. If you have the option to change the AGP aperture in the bios, then change it to 32mb or lower. your complete system specs could be helpful to debug the issue.
