A very bad decision from Valve. One's gaming library is essentially banned from working on older OSes. Reminder - windows 10 goes EOL in 2025. After the XP client debacle, I have stopped buying games on Steam.

I have an older 15'' NEC monitor, also 1024x768. The scaling is good enough, thus I can't imagine newer monitors being worse. If you are thinking about integer scaling - I understand such scaling works on Windows 7+ with modern GPUs. I like the NEC monitor - the hardware calibration is a huge plus …

Personally - no. All 2007FPs i’ve seen had the ‘b’. However, all 2007FPs I’ve seen were surplus or liquidations, sold by 2nd hand resellers. I always assumed the ‘b’ stands for ‘business’. Reading owner threads / reviews from the 2007 period, no one ever referenced any FPb models, only FP.

This is news to me: so can we have resolutions like 320 x 240 at 85Hz in DOS mode? In my previous attempts I could only get resolutions higher than 640x480 with increased refresh rates, ie 85 / 100 Hz.

Via Envy 24 are reasonable cards for music audition, for XP -> Vista, maybe w7. Nothing more. The ES1970 cards are supported on windows 9x/nt, I am not aware drivers for win2k and up. Such cards offer basic eax / a3d / sensaura. i would skip all of them for practical use.

I got an XFX 7950GT PCIE for USD 10. I am starting to like the Geforce 7 series a lot: reasonable performance, one slot cooler, not very noisy. The card works quite well, 45K points in 3d mark 01 and 23.000 points in 3d mark 03.
