Re: GOG Redguard Performance

in DOS
robertmo wrote on 2022-06-15, 11:50: your cpu is just too slow for this game in dosbox but in qemu it will be fine (there are other problems there though) A Ryzen 7 2700X is too slow? Many users on GOG complained of the same symptoms. Unless Redguard is supposed to run at less than 15 fps, I don't …

Re: Glidos Direct3D Inhibit Mode Change issues

Apologies for double post but I just noticed something. As Paul said, it's a perfect square and measuring the image in paint.net, it seems that Glidos is trying to use a 1600x1200 4x3 sub area but my TVs native res is 1920x1080. Why this cuts off the right side I don't know but that may be key to …

Glidos Direct3D Inhibit Mode Change issues

I mentioned this to Paul but we couldn't figure out the cause Been playing around with Glidos again recently and "Inhibit Mode Change" causes some of the image to be cut off. Any ideas why? https://i.imgur.com/1DhE3jt.png System Specs Gigabyte AORUS M B450 motherboard AMD Ryzen 5 2700x CPU Radeon RX …

Re: GOG Redguard Performance

Measured the framerate using FRAPS. It was hitting 30+ in indoor areas but looked quite choppy regardless. In outdoor areas, I'm lucky to get above 15.

Re: GOG Redguard Performance

in DOS
Good point. I tried all that in that thread. Tried dgVoodoo, tried a different version of nglide and tried various dosbox settings. Nothing has helped. I think the biggest thing is the framerate drops. Indoor areas aren't too bad but outdoor areas are a nightmare

GOG Redguard Performance

in DOS
No matter what I try, I can't get Redguard to run with decent framerate. It's playabe but choppy. Is there anything I can do to improve this?

Re: Carmageddon/Redguard/Blood issues

That may be better. It came in useful for playing through TR1 to make myself a collection of saves for the original non-ati patched version of the game. Something reassuring about Redguard. It is playable despite the choppiness but 12 fps when facing a wall is a little odd (about 8fps in the open). …

Re: Carmageddon/Redguard/Blood issues

Thought so. Redguard could just naturally be choppy. Quite surprised you made Glidos free to unlock now but it's a good thing. Maybe the "Buy Glidos" link shoudl be changed to something else, maybe like "Register Glidos" or something with a donation link as an option. I can't play Tower of Babel as …

Re: Carmageddon/Redguard/Blood issues

I see. Carmageddon I can play in OpenGL with the cost of not being able to use "Inhibit mode change". Blood is playable anyway despite the frame-drops. My biggest concern is Redguard, I thought it would be smoother than it is, Screamer 2 is more playable than Redguard. The mouse may be due to the …

Carmageddon/Redguard/Blood issues

Started using Glidos and I have a few issues with the following games Carmageddon - Plays in OpenGL fine but Direct3D causes the HUD to go blank as well as the pause menu Redguard - Very choppy framerate (about 10fps or less), especially in large areas Blood - Framerate drops when facing any open …
