There's one on UK eBay (listed as "Ideal for Amiga Mediators"), which at £350 is still not cheap, but cheaper than the Mac card that's for sale in Poland. I lucked out buying mine from the USA as known faulty. Repaired and working great albeit with aftermarket cooling it came in at under £140.

Certainly with graphics cards I find that freezing the card helps with epoxied on heatsinks better than heat does. You'd even hope/expect this to be the case as otherwise the heatsink would become less effectively attached to the CPU as the temperature rose!

Those physical damages are probably irrelevant. I suggest using a contact cleaner spray in D-Sub connector, usually there is some mess inside those tiny holes. Sorry but I disagree. I would honestly just check those traces that I and NyLan pointed out as well as the capacitor I mentioned. I’ve fixed far worse and ended up with perfectly stable and usable cards. It might be a trick of the light or a bad photo, but C150 on the back of the board looks like it’s blown a hole in itself! Also, are those scratched traces near the same area on the back? Are they making good continuity or do they need some attending to with a bodge wire or two?

I’ve got two dead v3 2000s that both died as a result of a bad BIOS flash. No amount of removing the chip and flashing using my Minipro brings them back from the dead unfortunately. I’d love to know why this is the case, and why so many have this apparently common problem with BIOS flashing.

So the PCI bus is currently at 37MHz due to the 112MHz FSB. I’ve can’t get up to 133fsb for 44MHz PCI as the P3-850 just won’t do it unfortunately. I’ll play with the PCI Latency settings 😀

Ironically, no, the monitor is an old 4:3 60hz tft panel. 3dfx Tools has the option to disable vsync, both in the Advanced tab (one setting for each api, d3d and ogl/glide), and also as tick boxes in the Overclocking tab. So I'm now pretty convinced something else other than CPU bottleneck is locking me to 70fps. 3DMark2000 is also hitting only 70fps on the helicopter tests, which seems far too coincidental.

Having tried a number of official drivers and third party drivers on my K6-3/Voodoo 3 machine, I settled on the newest AmigaMerlin drivers. They appeared to give the best performance (backed up with 3DMark99 Max results).

I guess I could rip apart the Slot-1 P3 machine and install a fresh copy of 98SE on it. I'm currently trying the existing Asus SP97-V machine, but without the S3 ViRGE/DX and instead using the on-board SIS 5598 VGA that was previously disabled in the BIOS.
