Re: What game are you playing now?

in Milliways
It is 60 ish levels and it can get repetitive, but I mostly enjoyed it. I plan to install and play Spear of Destiny, but I also have the itch to finish some other games that are similar, such as blake stone and rise of the triad. I also, have never finished Doom2, which I will start after I finish …

Re: 2024 - End of the era of Retro Computing Youtube channels?

Tik-Tok……..I think Short clips are the Future of Retro computer channels. People are busy and don’t have time to watch a documentary about a retro computer product. It isn't that people are too busy to watch longer videos. They will spend hours scrolling through stupid dances, dangerous challenges, …

played a bit of Wolfenstein 2009 it looks good and plays fine, not sure i care for the supernatural gameplay elements though, i kind of preferred the balance/mix in "return to" from 2001 .. I remember enjoying this game when it came out, but its been to long for me to give any specific impressions …

Recently, I get the feeling that many YouTubers end up "chasing the algorithm" instead of simply making good content. Got to tick all of those boxes for maximum engagement! And worst of all, YouTube keeps rewarding this behavior. As others have mentioned before, some of the best content comes from …

Re: Retro Rig Photo Thread

Hi all, here's my PC. It's not the fastest PC of 1998, but it might have been the fastest in February 1998, exactly when the Voodoo 2 was released. ... Otherwise, I am pleased with this PC, and have no reason to upgrade. definitely a nice set up! i like the 'multi media computer system' badge too! …

Re: Help with system

Yeah I'm happy enough with Dosbox for DOS. Mainly I'm looking at it for flight sims from the 95/98 era (so second half of the 90's) which don't work well or at all on XP or newer. That's why I'm quite chuffed about the 3dfx card for JSF, Janes F-15 etc. More MHz is generally good for these sims. I …

Re: Did you create maps for games?

I thought when reading about the subject of this topic, map making was about making maps as in SSI's Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Gold Box games or creating rooms and directions for text adventures and even graphical adventures like the bamboo forest in Leisure Suit Larry 3 or the berry caves in …

Re: Texture filtering - yay or nay?

Takedasun wrote on 2024-03-14, 13:23: Unreal_06.png as an aside, that last pic is an example of the total wow factor unreal could create when it came out, even on modest systems it could in some moments look like you were in a genuine "world"

I remember enjoying this game when it came out, but its been to long for me to give any specific impressions about it. I don't think I thought it was an amazing game but good. i think thats about it, i played a bit further and got the particle cannon weapon but still its all just ok, oh well - i'll …

Get with the times. A stunningly-ironic thing to say on this website. i suspect a minor joke on repeat :) in any case, i don't mind the AI thumbnails but would prefer photo + relevant text, otherwise there is a generic almost corporate look to it it's the least of concerns though, content matters …

played a bit of Wolfenstein 2009 it looks good and plays fine, not sure i care for the supernatural gameplay elements though, i kind of preferred the balance/mix in "return to" from 2001 one drawback of it looking good - there is so much stuff that you cant interact with. typical of many games of …
