I doubt there's an easy generic mod. You have to check to find a trace where your board sends the 3.3V to the CPU and cut there. The other components that need 3.3V won't be happy with 2.5V. Just for the record: The Orinoco cards with Lucent chipset do support WPA under Windows (XP, 2000) and Linux. There´s no WPA2 support though.

If the CPU that you are using to test the boards is a later model and the BIOS on the board is an earlier one that doesn´t know it it´s possible the board won´t start. Or did the boards come with CPUs?

yep - a decent desoldering station is highly recommended for this "socket job". And it still takes a while. Since the upper / slider part has been torn off one can gently remove every single pin after desoldering it.

There´s a voltage regulator on your mainboard, so - if jumpered correctly - a DX4 should run with a Vcore of 3.3V. Your BIOS also identifies it correctly. Just replace the capacitors in the stepdown regulators as marked in the picture: Filename cap_epoxkxa.jpg File size 188.05 KiB Views 252 views Bought at a decent retailer or distributor and in small numbers like this it´s no big deal. Those Epox boards were top quality - except for the caps.
