I am trying to install drivers for a Microsoft PS/2 Serial-Mouse Port Compatible Mouse 2.0 whenever I try to install the microsoft drivers, it says the mouse is not connected. My computer does not have a PS/2 connector so I am using a PS/2 to serial adapter to connect it to my computer. Any ideas? …

I've just quickly checked photos of this board (unfortunately I have no such a board to check it in reality). And it seems there is no voltage regulator on this board, which could provide voltage regulation for CPU power supply. So based on above I would say no support for CPU with power supply …

Maybe my advice won't be sophisticated but it' worth to check temperature of key IC ie. by touching them with finger. If any of ICs is really hot than it can help to narrow the inspection area.

In terms of flexibility it looks OK. I bought 3 pieces therefore I could afford the risk of crack during my testing. But it looks good. Please share some photos of the area, which was affected by the battery leakage. Have you checked what's going on under each IC? Some traces could be broken under them, which is not visible without full desoldering

Personally I haven't had any contact with "Ace" brand and I believe it's not among the premium brands. Overall I suggest to check the condition of electrolytic caps inside before you'll hook it up to your motherboard.

For Windows 98 installation it's better to start with max 512MB of RAM, otherwise bigger memory will cause issues with boot of Win98. Once system is installed with 512MB memory stick you can apply patch to allow Win98 work with bigger amount of RAM memory. https://archive.org/details/PATCHMEM
