Some of the bios settings may be to blame. Sometimes system bios cachable. And various other settings as well. What board? What processor? What ram? What ram config? What cards?

A lot of issues like this are from bad capacitors. Try under clocking the card and see if it gets better.

Yeah, for sure. But many of us will want to use our nice fancy usb HIDs. I know I use them myself of course, Usb kb and mouse. Well for this purpose there are several arduino based projects... Adding More USB Ports to Retro Motherboards By the way, I thought I had posted this but I don’t see it. this is what I am doing these days, I like it because it gives me all the ports that I need and doesn’t slow the system down

Hello, I am building a pentium overdrive socket 3 system And I was wondering what is the fastest hard drive solution ? would it be a add in SCSI card with a SD card adapter? A ssd scsi on adapter? Some sort of IDeE card and a ide to sata with ssd? ide to cf?
