That seems sketchy. I haven't heard anyone fretting about their 286s or anything like that. Anything electronic will break down over time as you pass electricity through it but I think people put too much pressure on how consistent degredation is despite that.

I installed my FX 5900's video driver in Windows 95. I know, not much of an accomplishment (and I might undo it shortly since I think I'm going to downgrade my 9x's Nvidia driver suite), but it's not even 8AM here.

To bring this saga to an end, I can confirm it's a vanilla FX 5900. Not sure what that means in terms of potential but it should still be able to punch around the weight of a GeForce4 Ti 4600, I'm assuming.
