Re: The frustrations of the GPU market

in Milliways
First world problems...You can still enjoy games without the settings maxed out at 4K resolution. True, but once you have played a game (like Rise of the Tomb Raider) on max details on a 21:9 3440x1440 screen running at 144fps locked; it's tough to go back. (Setting Retro aside, because I love to …

Re: Is there Anyone "Overpaying" for Hardware and Proud of it? Well, maybe not Proud, but...

I'm not very patient and my personal limits went up over time. I had to do this with boxed PC games. My price range went from $40-$60 to well north of $100 now. I'm glad I picked up Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain when I did several moons ago (for example), but I'm still kicking myself for selling …

Re: Is there Anyone "Overpaying" for Hardware and Proud of it? Well, maybe not Proud, but...

Re: anyone gaming with NT 4.0?

Windows NT 4.0 is my favorite operating system of all time. There's enough OpenGL (and Glide) games to run to justify its existence in one's retro collection. It's stable and indeed, light. Looking back...when I first used NT 4.0, it was clunky slow, and a tremendous pain to get working properly; I …

Re: Fan headers not operational on Amptron PIII-3700T motherboard. Can someone help me out?

Problem solved! It occurred to me this morning I should try plugging in the fan “backwards.” I had nothing to lose, so why not give it a shot. I snapped off the guides cleanly and plugged in. It worked! And the fan onboard hardware monitoring shows the RPM. Both headers are working. Amazing! I …
