What is PCI-X?

So, as the title says, what is PCI-X? I cant seem to find much info about what it is, or what kind of cards are commonly used with it. This question came up when I was casually scrolling ebay, and found a Dell Precision 490 that has two of these PCI-X expansion slots. Thanks for the info.

Update: Swapped in a Quadro FX 1700, and it booted straight to windows. Then I swapped the HD 5850 back into the machine... booted straight to windows with no error.... the only difference i can figure is when swapping the gpu, I shut off the power supply with its switch on the back. vs just a …

Update: swapped in the 60gb drive, did a fresh install, and same error. i dont get it. Same files ive used before, and its worked before. Driver install order is 7z, chipset, graphics, then work on sound.

Update: Reinstalled OS using the updated Fdisk, and same error Win9x starts to get a little rickety with partitions so large. I recommend you split the disk into multiple volumes (or partitions). I would use free fdisk instead of Microsoft's to do the partitioning, and would probably break the disk …
