Re: Civilization 2 issues.

Civ 2 required WinG to be installed, a redistributable installer was included on the CD. It sounds like the pirated version you got just included the game files and nothing else. Try to track down an ISO of the game CD or a legit copy and the installer should take care of this for you. …

Re: Civilization 2 issues.

I mean first, is CIV2 actually installed to "c:\mps\civ2\"? Second, check the shortcut and make sure under it's properties, the working directory is "c:\mps\civ2\", assuming that is the correct directory. I actually have CIV2 installed in Win3.1 under DOSBOX in a similar manner, although I'm pretty …

Re: Civilization 2 issues.

May I ask why you have to install it under Win31? Released in 1996, Civ2 could run under Win9x without problems. I cant seem to get windows 9x working in DOS Box. I tried Windows 95, and it told me it doesnt run on DOS 7.0 or older. That was OSR 2.5 tho, i do have OSR 1 that might work. And looking …

Civilization 2 issues.

So ive decided id poke around in DOS Box for a bit, since I dont yet own a pc old enough to run DOS. Ive installed Windows 3.1, and now trying to install some games, such as the aforementioned Civilization 2. i downloaded this game from the site LINK REMOVED, an archive site for games of all kinds …

Re: Spur of the moment build.

I have a windows 98SE system already, and a Windows XP system. My 98 system booted just fine with 764mb of memory. I may consider the FX 5000 series suggestions, Ive seen FX5500's for around $50 on ebay, vs Radeon 9600's for a bit higher, i think $75 range. As for OS, being the hardware is the same …

Spur of the moment build.

So, ive put together a system using spare parts I had sitting around simply out of boredom. It has an AMD Sempron 2400+ @1.67ghz, 512mb ram. tho the gpu turned out to be faulty. Unfortunate, in was a Geforce MX 4000 i think. Anyway, i thought I would make a post here to see what graphics card you …

Re: 775 and ISA

What 720kb 3.5in FDD do you have btw? And you probably won't even need a dedicated 720kb 3.5in FDD. I've never come across any 1.44mb FDD that couldn't read or write to 720kb disks. 1.44mb FDDs should be fully 720kb disk compatible. I dont have the 720k 3.5" FDD yet, I do have a 1.44m 3.5" FDD, but …

Re: 775 and ISA

Heres a thought... since industrial boards are so expensive, and likely dont have support for an FDC on ISA, could a PCI or PCIe to ISA adapter be made? I know modern systems can run SSDs through PCIe, but could I run an FDC using an adapter? Costronic had some PCI-ISA adapters, though without any …
