Re: Is the FX5600 a great option for Win98?

GeForce FX 5600 is FX 5200 with all GPU features enabled and usually better memory chips installed. FX5200 suffers greatly in performance, due to lack of those. It was a horrible card which never should have been released. FX5600 is noticeably better. Do I even need 256mb vram for eye-candy …

Is the FX5600 a great option for Win98?

👋 I'm very interested in Win98 build with this card for pre-2003 games.A huge plus is that it supports nGlide. As far as I know, fonts may not be displayed correctly in some games. Is this a problem with the FX series or the drivers? Any reasons why it is worth picking 5700 or 5700LE(128bit) over …

Re: Older PCI gpu in newer system.

NV driver is simply dumb that way. It can't work with multiple versions of itself running concurrently. In other words : Only 1 NV driver version can work on WinXP, so it needs to support ALL connected cards at the same time. OK, so if the second card is AMD it should be fine?

Re: Older PCI gpu in newer system.

Yes, it is. You will have to disable second card under each os (device manager), and use XP only one as "primary". DO NOT install two NV drivers on the same OS. What if I used only XP and two cards? So I can't use both under XP using different drivers for each? In this configuration I can choose …

Then better to stick with the GTX 960/950, as I wanted initially, since they have higher performance and power efficiency for my needs. But the aesthetics of those mid-late 2000 graphics cards with the sticker on their coolers are blowing my mind, so I will probably grab some. Thank you to everyone …

Hi as said before late 90s games may be incompatible not only with your hardware but with XP at all. f you absolutely have to play everything from 1998 to 2010 in XP on a single computer I propose you this build: AM2+ system with 2-3GB DDR2 or DDR3. Relatively fast single-core CPU such as Sempron …

Re: Another question about Windows XP videocard

I was wondering Is it a good idea to install something like GeForce 4Ti 4200 on a thin client computer for 95-2001 games, some of them have upgrade slots, right? Is it even possible? Thin client usually only have a single PCI slot if any and some have issues running sound or graphics cards in them. …

Fine. How about leaving Windows XP with a Core 2 Duo but shifting the time interval to 1995–2006? Which cards will be more compatible? I'd rather have a green one. Even more tricky period to pull off with a single PC, especially with XP if you want maximal quality. The peak of Glide games, which …
