So far so good. Extraction was EZ mode. Just heated up the backend until she popped out. Just waiting on amazon for my "12" battery holders to show up for step 2.

On my Lucky Star LS-486E motherboard The clip wasn't holding the battery very firmly and after pushing it downwards it popped. I found the following replacement (?) on amazon. Not sure if its the correct product or why i need a pack of 12 but its under $10. Would this work? https://www.amazon.com/dp …

and btw, thanks all for the help. I should note that this little thing from amazon helped, but still quite quite. I remember my 486sx 25 back in the day just blasted its pc speaker sound.

Update: Could the L2 issue end up being a memory issue? As it turns out, my 16meg ram has 3 sticks of parity and 1 non-parity. I'm not sure what type of issues this could create (if any), but i just updated it with 4 sticks of matching memory for a new total of 32megs. Ran memtest86+ and it passed > …

Ended up just reinstalling. It took some time but it went well and it was nice to do the install myself rather than the builder i got the PC from a few months ago.

I was installing a sound blaster card and the install crashed. When rebooting it get a "There is not enough memory to load the registry" error. Win95 will load fine and I don't see any issues. Rebooted again > pressed F8 and did a step by step and created a bootlog.txt and it has the following …

No, that's not bad soldering, that's a scratch or possibly a crack in the PCB. This damage might be caused while shipping the item. I don't see any obvious bad traces on the photo, but a scratch that deep might cause electrical malfunction. If your board is a 486 board, it is likely that it …
