That is what it supports yes. I would test to see if a higher clocked coppermine will run at reduced speed on the 66 bus. However, on this platform a 66 bus is a real bottleneck.

I get around 4.5Mbps on a 3c509 / 386DX33 on linux, kernel 2.4.18 over http using wget. I can NAT close to wire speed through a pair of smc elite ultra 8216T’s on a 486Dx4-100 on linux, kernel 2.0.38. Linux networking is quite good, very efficient stack. Around here memory tended to be on the low side as well. My DX4-100 initially had 4MB, which I later upgraded to 12MB. I remember P100’s with 8MB. Absolute swapfest in w95. My Klamath 300 had 64MB, later upgraded to 96. My s478 Willamette 1.7 had 256MB PC800 rambus, I built that one end of 2001.

Is the serial port on the vlb card or on a breakout cable? I have seen different pinouts being used for these, perhaps that is the problem. Otherwise there might be a problem with the 232 line driver or receiver on it, since it passes internal tests.

I will give that a try when it cools down again, the driver is not referenced in config.sys as I found it. I wonder if this file is standard in pc dos 4 or if it was added specifically for this card.

Run it on software rendering at 512x384 or 400x300. Actually looks great by the way.

Thank you for the thoughts on the RTC and the pointers to the vga cards. Turns out I have a 9000C trident that is based on the same reference design, but lacks the legend on the silk screen that describes the jumpering for 8 bit operation. I will change that one over and try it out later.

Thanks, I used to have an 8 bit Paradise Wonder (if its gonna work) lying about which I cannot seem to find. I wanted to use that one. I have a couple of Trident 9000's and an 8900D that I will pop in and see what they do.

I also took a few other photos. Standard 640k Juko ST 12MHz board Longshine 6210D rev A1 st506 controller (looks like the type that steals a track to write its config to the drive) Juko monochrome display adapter with lots of other ports and even more mystery jumpers and switches
