Don't confuse the Pas16 with the Jazz16. They are different. The Jazz16 is a SB Pro compatible. While the Pas16 was it's own thing with SB compatibility as well.

I have also been able to rescue floppys with a bad track 0 using a bulk eraser. I suspect those floppys were written to on a very misaligned drive, or subjected to a strong magnetic field.

Yes, you can use a hd 1440k drive in the place of a dd 720k drive. It will work perfectly fine. Of course it will only work as a 720k drive without BIOS and faster floppy controller. I did this a long time ago to install Windows 3.0 on an IBM XT.

Depending on the BIOS that comes with the Pocket386, the maximum drive size is likely limited to 8.4gb. If you are lucky, 128gb may be possible. Operating system support is also going to be a limit on how large of a drive you can use.
