Re: Revised list of Voodoo games for DOS.

there is no point in playing glide versions of dn3d/blood/shadow warrior! Yes, but for a different reason. For all games except Blood exist very good modern source ports. they don't turn the game more 3D, they just apply billinear filtering on the screen, nothing really special or usefull.... And …

Re: KQ7 MIDI...

Why don't you use the Windows version of the game? Ran fine for me on XP (with the exception of the firecracker bug - but this should happen with the DOS version and VDMSound as well). If you are playing the Windows version, why are you using VDMSound? This program is not needed, because it is for …

Re: Why did sierra use 0.63

My only conclusion is that they planned & started putting together their first old games collection back when 0.63 was the current version, and never bothered to update. Someone at Adventure gamers analyzed the files in the collections and even at release the newest one (configuration file) was …

Re: Lines in Blood for GliDOS and no cut scenes

Yes, I had the same problem; cutscenes only work without the 3dfx patch. But in my opinion the patch isn't worth it anyway. You may get filtered textures, but at the same time lose the three dimensional voxel objects. But as Glidos already said, there is only a beta version of the patch available.

Re: Gabriel Knight 1 Bad Graphics

in Windows
I remembered, that some of the old Sierra games didn't accept the Compatibility Settings directly. Create a batch file inside the GK directory with only the following lines: SIERRAW PAUSE and apply the Compatibility Settings on this batch file and use the batch file to start the game. (GKCD.BAT …

Re: Don't Have a Floppy Disk Drive

wd wrote: Yep, but how do you read that from his posting??? Just guessing, because this is more or less the main point while using Dosbox where booting from Floppy is required for installation. Besides I read several times posts from people who couldn't distinguish very well between Dosbox and DOS …

Re: Don't Have a Floppy Disk Drive

I think what he means, is installing MS-Dos inside of Dosbox. I also had problems with this some time ago and finally ended up in installing it under QEMU instead and transfer the files later. Maybe it works better with the current development version?

Re: King's Quest 6 On Windows XP

Maxor127 wrote: Does it have the hi-res portraits? No, it doesn't. As you already have guessed, the "Windows XP compatible version" is just the inferior DOS version with a presetup Dosbox configuration So blue_robyn: Your Kings Quest is indeed running with Dosbox, even if you don't know it. 😉

Re: News about 3D support in Vmware

This is really great news. 3D and proper sound support were the only important things missing on VMWare, otherwise it is by far best Virtual Machine for using Windows 9x. Now that Vista is coming, this program gets even more important, seeing as many old Windows games won't run anymore.

Re: PSP????

If i understand your Statement correct it means: IF I WANT A DOSBOX THAT RUNS UNDER WinXP I HAVE TO CONTACT MICROSOFT ? No, you didn't understand correctly. Microsoft has no problem with independent software running on their system, Sony on the contrary has - simple as that. I think all what would …

Re: Gabriel Knight update for Windows

in Windows
Yes, since obviously the installer only checks the first few drive letters - as Hazelke wrote, these seem to be limited to drives D: and E:. Actually I had the same problems with my own HD/DVD installers for some other games. I never thought that anyone would use a drive letter above I:, but after …

Re: Spider as food

I've eaten ants and grasshoper. There was a kind of survivor guy in our local televison who has eaten grasshopers and he claimed that they tasted like hazelnuts. And in my experience hazelnuts don't taste quite like chicken. (But I don't really want to try out what they really taste like if …
