Re: Runtime error 216

It may simply be that there is a bug that was fixed and a new version has been released. Maybe you have version 1.00 and Jorpho has 1.01 or something. Precisely. Unfortunately, I can't find a version number anywhere (even with a hex editor), nor can I find an upgrade patch anywhere. But it really …

Re: Runtime error 216

Ah. Right you are. Here it is... just when you load the game, go right, enter on a cave, read a mensage from the girl, and enter the next cave, before anything starts, it should crash... No crash here. DOSBox 0.73, standard configuration. I also didn't have that weird sound effect problem you …

Re: Windows 95 and DOSBox.

As long as you're here, I might as well mention that patches to let Sonic CD run under XP are now readily available, if you're not already aware of them. I found that patch, but it's not really useful on Ubuntu 9.04 :P Actually, as far as Sonic CD goes, the best solution of all is to run the …

Re: Runtime error 216

I meant that I can try to duplicate the problem on my computer and see if I can find a solution. I have a copy of that game somewhere. The easiest way to find the saved games would be to go to the game's directory and look for the file that was modified most recently. The game is definitely a DOS …

Re: Runtime error 216

I vaguely recall running across something like that before. I suspect it's something like Runtime Error 200, in the sense that it's triggered by the processor being too fast - in which case the solution is to lower DOSBox's cycles as much as you can stand.

Re: CD-ROM driver issues and HDD size question

I created a logical partition because it's required on real machines running Win98, from my experience. I don't think Windows 98 can even boot from a logical partition. I'll also note that I am done with this, just don't be so rude about it. You were told in the fifth post in this thread that …

Re: CD-ROM driver issues and HDD size question

While I'm at it, how would I go about formatting the HDD? I created a logical DOS partition within DOS, but the drive letters of the primary, extended, and logical partitions confuse me because the image is already mounted to C: in DOSBox. Is image mounting done by file or by partition? Need some …

Re: Sound Blaster Live! DOS Drivers

I still haven't installed these drivers. Aside from uninstalling the old ones via program add/remove, what do I need to do more? A registry clean? Maybe delete the directories and autoexec.bat entries I made for the DOS drivers? If this is about DOS drivers, why would you need to worry about add/ …

Re: Can't get SoundBlaster AWE32 PNP (ISA) working

in DOS
The board itself does not have many periphals but a network card Even if there's nothing plugged in, if the serial ports and parallel ports are there at all, they may be taking up resources that the sound card is trying to use. (It is a little unlikely, I'll admit, but like I said, it's an easy fix …

Re: Can't get SoundBlaster AWE32 PNP (ISA) working

in DOS
If I had to take a wild guess, I would suggest that the easiest solution would be go to into the motherboard's BIOS and disable things that you won't be using in an arcade machine: serial ports, parallel ports, floppy drive, and so on. (If you're not sure what something is, you should probably leave …
