Have you tried using the debug version of DOSBox to determine what files your version of Starfighter is trying to access? (ykhwong's CVS build from here works.) The copy protection also might be a simple matter of the game trying to read the CD's volume label. Try using the -label switch with mount, …

You may be aware that there is a patch for Fallout that lets you run the game at a higher resolution, i.e. allowing you to see more of the playfield at once. Of course, it is not without its problems.

Has this board been known to work properly in other systems? Also, have you checked the volume control for the MIDI channel in the mixer settings (just to be sure) ?

All right, perhaps a bootdisk would be a good idea. I rather like this one: http://community.the-underdogs.org/pub/bootdisks/whive12.zip That should allow you to access your CD-ROM drive from ordinary DOS without any Windows getting involved, hopefully allowing you to run the Install program.

Did you install all the appropriate Windows drivers too? I seem to recall some tweaking of the MIDI setup might be necessary.
