Re: Dosbox crashes on start

in DOSBox General
Try to use a CVS Version, if that doesnt work get a new SDL.dll (compile one or grab it from: http://www.libsdl.org/download-1.2.php (you would need runtime library for win32 i guess, put the dll into the dosbox folder and overwrite the old one, also install newest DirectX).

Re: List the PC games that you have beaten

in Milliways
Oh man, I couldn't possibly recall all the games I've beaten, and I won't even try. I'll just post the single one which was the most satisfying to beat: Planescape Torment That Ending Sequence was so awesome...

Re: Getting Monkey Island to work

umm.... are sure that "install c:" is the correct way of "firing up" the installer? try just "install" or "setup" You could also try ScummVM as postet before. It has a rather easy-to-use interface, and the newest version should even ship with monkey island!

Re: Problem with video capture

in DOSBox General
No, DosBox generally uses 70FPS (at least i was told so, but I will of course believe you if you tell me otherwise :) ). However, even if your refresh rate is lower than that, it will still record a 70fps movie (except you have somehow vsync forced, then not). If you talked about the playback …

Re: Problem with video capture

in DOSBox General
It does not depend to which codec he codes, the file will always be out of sync. It's because DosBox presumably records every frame. Since DosBox generally outputs 70 Frames per Second, it records 70fps to the video file. Now for some unknown reason, e.g. Media Player 6.4 (and other players) will …

Re: Buried in Time Videos Off-Center

in Windows
Thank you for that, but there is still a problem: mciavi32.dll is not listed there. Now that's strange for sure (the dll is in my system32 directory). Maybe any thoughts on how I can get it there?

Re: Using a batch file to begin a game in dosbox?

in DOSBox General
No you can't. There is no 100% for cycles, you can turn up to infinity (well I guess, there is some cap, but since everything is really going to it's knees when cycles are set too hight, it's senseless to try out^^) . You can change the value that keystroke cycles up/down does from % to actual …

Buried in Time Videos Off-Center

in Windows
Hi! I installed Buried in Time today and it runs quite fine under WinXP (Comp Mode). The only problem is that many animations are off-center. I found a corresponding error description and solution here: http://presto.tommyyune.com/presto/journeyman2/bit_support.html#PC14 As you can see, it tells me …

Re: How to record a video

I dont know if this will work because I don't use Windows Movie Maker but you could try to install ffdshow (it's basically a DirectShowDecoder to decode.... everything). I don't know if that will work with WMM. Its quite possible though, as the decoder supplied with dosbox seems to be vfw (old) …

Re: Star Trek: Starfleet Academy DVD on XP

in Windows
Well, to disable native Mpeg2 DirectShow Filter is hardly possible... but if you have ffdshow installed, go to vfw and video decoder configfuration and set mpeg2 to disabled (it's a long shot though). If you don't have ffdshow installed, I don't believe it is related to this... Another question: Do …

Re: Star Trek: Starfleet Academy DVD on XP

in Windows
I have the CD Version of SFA. In order to get it to run in the first place, I had to set compatibility mode to winnt 4 to be able to install it, but the game would run fine without compatibility mode. Another thing is that the cd version movies are definately not mpeg2, they are some weird " …

Re: Please add max FPS to Dosbox.cfg

Thx ykhwong, I'll give it a try 😀 Freddo: Problem is: I forget it all the time and it's annoying 😉 Also: The less frames needed to be captured, the better the performance (at least that sounds reasonable, let' see if I'm right *messes around with MSYS a bit...* 😀

Please add max FPS to Dosbox.cfg

Please, the ZMBV Bug with out of synch Audio really gets annyoing since I have to reencode all the stuff with Virtual Dub and it makes things really worse... As you may have realized by now, DosBox generally runs on a max cap off 70fps (afaik), HOWEVER; some Monitors (especially Laptop LCD's) …

Re: Star Trek a Final Unity

Just increase the mouse sensitivity in dosbox.conf like red_avatar stated. For the sound Problem: Try using Gravis Ultrasound instead of SoundBlaster (or, if that Fails, try to use Soundblaster 2 instead of 16), that brought some impressive improvements for me.

Re: Phantasmagoria to DVD?

in DOS
Congrats 😀 At first I did wonder why you would want it all on one CD, because it works with multiple CD's anyway (at least for me oO), but the Xbox stuff is sorta a cool idea 😀 How fast does it run? I found Phantasmagoria to be quite demanding (the FMV sequences), are they fluid on the XBox?
