You could try to suspend the DosBox process with some 3rd party tool and then alter the mounted image directly in the ram, but I think QuiteGuy's way requires much less time (and skill 😉 ).

Didn't work before? I'm quite sure I was able to play it even with offical 0.63, at least with far earlier CVS... allthough, I remember it randomly crashing (about every 4 hours or so, but it was very playable...)

Yes, you could install win32 extensions, but not much will work, allthough i heard that some apps (like freecell) worked before, but this is the first time, it works for me 😉

Since there's no precompiled CVS available, and because I'll be late to University because of some stupid party @ Währinger Straße ;), I took the liberty to upload my .exe for anyone who might like it. But don't expect too much, it's a MINIMAL build, no optimizations, and just support for sdl.dll …

I've now built a new dosbox.exe from todays cvs, and with the above posted config and the copied game files on the hard drive, I've got no problems loading Tactical screen. However, I experienced some stuttering/overall poor performance, but they may have some other causes I've yet to figure out. …

I have no clue what you did, but with sdl 1.2.9 and CVS from 5th May ~18:00 CET, I'm able to use dynamic core aswell as keyboard. Also, Windows does not crash Dosbox on shutdown. FINE work guys 😀

This is my dosbox.conf which I used to play the game (with some cvs version about a year ago). I also used dos32a as protected mode engine. Sorry to reply so late, but I had some University Issues to deal with 😉 I found my old sttng config file, and I used Dynamic Core. However: Try to use Gravis Sound instead of SoundBlaster. Might be that this is anything needed to do^^

There should be a file called sdl.dll in your Dosbox Folder. If not, somehting's wrong with your installation. Also check your windows\system32 folder for the same file. Compare the dates of the file, It's a long shot, but it might be that your sys32 version is outdated and therefore causing problem …

I find the lightning a bit odd, especially the transition from the brigth Dos spot to the F. There's an ugly transition there, one can see single pixels oO. I like the Font though =)

No, the recovery console is the most useful application because it can fix stuff not necessarily broken by Windows itself (e.g. messed up MFT (cause of aggressive Linux behaviour)). @Topic: I believe I recall some Issues with Falcon 3 in Windows 3.11 but I'm not sure.... was a lil young then 😉

Hm, which value do I have to modify in the source so that Dosbox will run with like.... 50 fps for example? Edit: Frameskip 1 messes all up even more. Video playback is ways too fast then while audio remains behind.
