Re: GP2x and DosBox

Some really old and simple games probably would work, though it'd be a bit painful having to remap the controls for each game. A really snazzy front end could help with that though.

The dynamic core only applies to x86 based machines, which the GP2X definitely is not. Honestly with just a 200MHz ARM9 for it to use, I'd expect crappy performance. No matter what you did.

Not really. Dosbox is mostly written with a single main thread for the emulation so what you're experiencing is normal. The best way you can up performance for higher cycles if you haven't already, is to use the dynamic core.

As was said, something running in the background. Also, what sort of settings were you using? It sounds like those could've been lost from before. Also are you trying a different game this go around? Your system more than likely won't be able to handle much more than games in the fairly old category …

The command prompt is not DOS. MS-DOS came on 3(4 with extras) floppies and was an operating system in it's own right. Dosbox is emulating not only this operating environment, but also all of the hardware of a PC. It is NOT comparable to a command prompt in this. A save state function has been …

First off, sound needs to be enabled in dosbox. Second off, you have to configure the games to use dosbox's emulated sound system. Princess Maker 2's sound works fine in dosbox, and general midi works in CVS builds.
