Re: mouse is jumpy

in DOSBox General
hmm i copied the SDL dll files from dosbox to another game, and it still worked. Which suggests the problem isn't there. BUT i did find another game (SDL based, again) but which DOES have the same mouse problems as dosbox (https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=66561) any suggestions …

Re: mouse is jumpy

in DOSBox General
One last thing i forgot to mention: I changed "sensitivity=100" from dosbox.conf to different values but that didn't help. For example, i lowered it to "10", as a result the mouse would still jump from one end of the screen to the other, but now it would do it in slow motion. The mouse would behave …

mouse is jumpy

in DOSBox General
I'm running dosbox 0.65 under Windoze Server 2003 64bit and its working great. Unfortunately i can't use the mouse. While i can see the pointer and move it around, its jumpy, thus impossible to use. For example, when its in the upper left corner and i move my hand downwards, by just a little bit, …

Re: sound stutters on a Quad Opteron!

in DOSBox General
your option is to run some patched version of dosbox that contains a bunch of stuff for graphics improvement, i'd guess it would be helpful for someone who has maxed out his cpu and thus gets audio stutters. this isn't the issue here, i've got billions of processing power to spare. instead the issue …

system 1 runs an "AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+" with 1GB of ram, NVIDIA GeForce 6200 TurboCache(TM) and SATA RAID. It only has one PCI slot taken by the SB Live!. system 2 is a "Dual AMD Dual Core Opteron(tm) 270" (4 logical cpu's) with 4GB of ram, NVIDIA GeForce 7800GTX and SCSI …

No worries, i'm a long time developer and i perfectly know how fast are current processors. Every time someone tells me his Windoze doesn't go fast enough, i let them play with my IBM 8086 ;) Unfortunately my system is way ahead in terms of hardware than anything current software can use. This is a …

system 1: SB Live! system 2: NVIDIA nForce Pro (VAPU / Sonata) system 3: Intel AC97 chip (this is a laptop) Based on what you said, only system 3 should have problems with its audio. Anyway, i dont believe its related to the sound cards or sound chipsets. All my software that use audio one way or …

avatar_58, why are you even talking about cores? my post was about the pre-buffer. We already know everything you described, the issue here isn't the fast cpu as i've already said but my pre-buffer affects all three systems. Qbix, here are my results: blocksize=8192, prebuffer=10 : stutters every …

i believe ignorant are those people who are stuck in their minds that my post was related to number of CPUs. it is not, in fact, it tries to help other people with sound stutters and fast machines, thus their problem isn't related to CPU at all. Qbix, thanks for the explanation. It seems pre-buffer …

sound stutters on a Quad Opteron!

in DOSBox General
So, why not run dosbox on my quad opteron machine, full of SCSI RAID volumes and shit loads of other expensive gear. I started a simple sierra adventure, Codename: ICEMAN. Run it with 10.000 cycles and the game works fine. CPU usage is 2 to 5%. Unfortunately sound stutters.... !?... so i read the …

Re: problems with fullscreen (0.65)

Yes i have two LCDs, tried them both. They all support lower resolutions, scaling etc. As i've already stated in my original post that opened this thread, only when i force a specific resolution it works. I believe it has something to do with the way SDL changes the resolution, its not related to my …

Re: problems with fullscreen (0.65)

Old games are indeed using very low resolutions. The trick here is to use a scaler. Edit your dosbox configuration and find the option "scaler=" its by default set to normal2x which doesn't do much. I'm using advinterp3x. The scalers offered in dosbox by default aren't good enough. One of the best …
