I'd imagine you just have some weird timing issues. Your avarage adlib detection routine would just start the adlib timer, wait a bit to see and then see if the timer bit changes in the adlib register and that's that. Dosbox is far from cycle exactly but most stuff worked fine.

dosbox should be able to do it if it just did better on demand mixing when registers change. But for all general things the millisecond accuracy dosbox uses sounds decent enough.

Got a minipro as well from ebay. Great for reading old roms or writing the occasional replacement flash chips and you can get nice bundles on ebay with a bunch of converters if you'd need those.

I've used this cooler for a 100W led module worked fine for that though.

Wouldn't really bother with drq/eop whatever lines, that's all bus level and you shouldn't really care for emulating that. My dma channel read/write routines can just return a value if terminal count has been reached during this read/write action and the floppy goes into the result phase then when …

Better just stick to analyzing what is actually needed to get the emulator running with your target bios/game whatever. Getting sidetracked on emulating something that nothing needs or uses so you can't even test it is just a big waste of time 😀

Nah the original vga didn't use NMI. This was only later with more advanced SVGA cards and bored engineers. Original VGA was only CGA compatible through the bios calls and the memory layout was more or less the same.

Yeah I doubt anyone would bother to emulate those ppi error bits and nmis unless you want to emulate faulty memory I think like you said some svga devices could use an nmi to help the bios code emulate certain other videocard. I thought the GUS could also use it for emulating adlib/sblaster

Maybe bochs' lazy flag calculation doesn't update the correct state yet. But I seriously doubt that bochs would have issues in his.

It usually helps to just press and release alt again after you've gone fullscreen.
