Re: Atlantis 2 in Virtual PC -- skipping music

If you bought it from GoG, you should contact their customer support. No problem with you asking here of course. Just saying that GoG are obligated to help or refund you and I sort of wish more people would hold them to that.

Re: IPS monitors with real 70 Hz support ?

in Milliways
Epic Pinball runs at 60 frames per second I tested this game on practice: set 60 Hz mode on my CRT and game in DOSBox had distortions, then set 70 and that distortions have gone. I've also tested this. It runs perfectly smooth without any distortions at 60 frames per second. That's the framerate it …

DX9 eventually dropped support for Win98: http://www.falconfly.de/directx.htm That wasn't even a major revision. And looking at that, support for Win95 was quickly dropped. Can't actually say I blame MS in this, backporting features to old versions of software has never been the norm. Oh and I don't …

Re: Making WineD3D on Windows for Win32

Nvidia's threaded optimization also has an effect. Turning it off seems to improve framerate. Which is the opposite of what the setting is supposed to do. Turning it on crashes Breath of Fire IV :( Secondly setting GLSL to disabled (same key location as VideoMemorySize) is pretty beneficial to …

I've found two reasons for my "bad luck". One is Win8 specific. A lot of games freeze when querying resolutions if the Disable8And16BitModes compatibility mode is not set... Of course setting that can break games that need 8/16 bit color. Haven't found a workaround yet. Second is this computer has …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Maybe worth noting that I've seen a few people who had trouble figuring out how to use dgVoodoo2. I'm not going to say nice things about those people, but if you want the wrapper to be user friendly there might be room for improvement there.

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Extreme G-2's UI issues are not because of bilinear blt stretch btw: Xtreme G-2 Fixed Graphics Using Latest dgVooDoo Also it displays correctly in DXGL (has other issues) and WineD3D, but not natively. Here's how it's supposed to look. Here's dgVoodoo2

Re: Making WineD3D on Windows for Win32

I've just had bad luck with it. Extreme-G 2 works and looks perfect (not broken UI like dgVoodoo2 and no broken geometry like DXGL)... but for some reason it insisted on 960x540 resolution until I deleted that custom resolution. Don't think it runs perfectly smooth (then again I can't tell on a 30 …

So. Metal Fatigue. Interesting case. CDDA track switching is broken as hell. So I boot it in DOSBox-daum and it's STILL broken as hell. I wonder if it never worked properly. Anyone ever got it to? I don't mean just music working, but the title screen starting music playback instantly, the game …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Galshell, a freeware game (so should be easy to find) has sprite transparency issues (the sprites are 24 BPP images). FYI: it's not a porn game, but it's not very safe for work... Works natively, but too low framerate to be playable. Hellbound by the same author also has transparency issues, but it …

Re: Windows 10 upgrade plans?

They're giving away free upgrades for many reasons, one is lesser backlash when they drop support for Win7 and Win8. I would not expect either to get support extended as much as XP did.

I don't think it has anything to do with "luck" so much as common sense and paranoia. I was behind hardware firewalls, and had been browsing the web with hostfiles redirecting known malware\spyware\adware domains to localhost, internet options set to beyond highest thing (only allowing prompt …

Of all the times I've used windows, I've had moments where I left updates on "Notify only" for a few years and never got hit by any sort of malware attack, even just sitting there idle connected to the internet. I wonder what it is I'm doing right that I've never got botnetted or seriously …

Re: Windows 10 upgrade plans?

How to remove the Windows 10 GWX upgrade nonsense It's exactly this sort of crap that makes me not want to ever use Windows 7/8. Little by little MS is taking control of your system away from you. Sure, you can eventually find ways around it, but you shouldn't have to. It's your system, not theirs. …

Re: CD audio missing - my research

Isn't Deathtrap Dungeon on GoG? Shouldn't that have proper CDDA? I don't care about the game so I'm not investing the money to find out. I know someone with XP that gets no CDA with Hunter Hunted . No problem on my Win7, but _inmm does not seem to work with it for ripped tracks. Probably just either …
