Re: VGA Capture Thread

In that case yeah, it'll cover analog VGA capture for you as long as you don't push resolutions and refresh rate too high for it to handle. Dual-head variant sometimes can be found at same price as single. Be aware there are models with PCI-X interface and some sellers mistakenly label them as plain …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

To summarize this very long and exhaustive thread you basically have two routes: a VGA-HDMI converter/scaler paired with a generic HDMI capture card, or not-so-cheap pro capture cards from vendors like DataPath and Epiphan. Hi, so if I buy the following: "Datapath DGC103C Vision RGB-PRO1" I will be …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

Modern game capture devices are geared towards 16:9 resolutions, typically 720p, 1080p and few high-ends supporting 4k. Neither 4:3 nor 5:4 are common enough anymore to be supported. Less so any going above 60Hz. Lastly most are only going to have HDMI input, and while you haven't specified type of …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

That's a dual VGA input VisionRGB-PRO. Good if you have PCI slot and driver support is up to Windows 7. Got one of those too but alas no recent mobo with PCI port to plug it into to test. There might be resolution detection difference between this one and Ex series.

Re: DVI/DOS problem

DVI is hit and miss in those early cards, some of which were produced before spec was finalized and technically did not conform to it resulting in unexpected and quirky behavior. I have a few cards like that and it's kinda fascinating to me, but for practical purposes there aren't that many cards …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

Should have mentioned iMac as host capture system, that would have narrowed choice to very few options. But yeah, in general capture hardware fit for this niche task is very limited and most are very expensive, unless you find it second-hand at a reasonable price. A vast majority of modern capture …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

As mentioned before a few times in this thread I'd recommend DataPath Vision cards above all else. Yes, they do not work well with OBS but that's not a problem because whether you use provided Vision tool or vvbee's VCS (which has a lot more useful functionality), you can always direct OBS to …

Re: Which Voodoo card to buy ?

If you want compatibility with DOS Glide titles then either Voodoo1 or Voodoo2. If you don't care about that and stick to Windows titles then Voodoo3 is a good choice and has no need for 2D card. AGP or PCI doesn't particularly matter, whichever works for your build. Also... Nvidia Banshee?! There …

Re: Adlib Revival Kit

Yeah I'd be interested in adlib clone. May be some sort of "companion" adlib card to use with sound cards that don't have proper OPL chip? Good cards like Aureal for example, or to override AWE64 CQM imitation (I seem to recall it was possible to disable adlib port in resources configuration). Or …
